Colorful abstract in orange tones
And Then the Sun Danced
Monotype on Rice Paper
20"H x 16"W

"And then the Sun Danced" is a one-of-a-kind original monotype printed with acrylics on Masa rice paper. The “press” for this work is the artist’s hands! I print on a soft printing plate, using a brayer to roll the acrylics on the surface. I create textures in the paint and use hand-cut stencils to form images, pressing rice paper onto the plate multiple times for each print. These playful abstract compositions are inspired by the unpredictable and interesting patterns created by the hand printing process. They also incorporate some direct painting and collaged elements.

Each work is signed on the surface and numbered 1/1, indicating that it is a one-of-a-kind. Each work is presented matted with a super white, conservation mat, bevel cut, on a clay coated foam backer. (The exterior dimension of the mat is 20”H x 16”W”. The mat cut opening is 13.5”H x 10.5”W”.) This work is ready for you to frame and hang in your own standard 16 x 20 frame. Shipped flat in a sturdy box.
